West Fargo Baseball Travel & League Coaching Standards

West Fargo Baseball Travel & League Coaching Standards

1.      Promote good sportsmanship, teach good baseball skills, and have fun in the process.

2.      Foster a culture in which athletes exemplify a strong work ethic.

a.      There are multiple ways to win and multiple ways to lose. If we hustle and play the game the right way, there is no reason to feel discouraged.

3.      Provide an atmosphere of respect amongst everyone involved and create a culture of positivity.

4.      Be professional and respectful to all stakeholders involved in the game, including umpires, opposing coaches, and fans.

5.      Understand the goals of the organization and implement coaching practices that reflect those goals.

a.      Get every kid to have fun & participate in baseball year after year.

b.      Provide development opportunities to all the athletes.

6.      Abide by WFB playing time requirements. (For Travel Below) For League, all athletes should participate & learn the game by playing multiple positions.

a.      Minimum 1 of 3 games. This playing time rule is not in effect for Gopher State or ND State. (Postseason)

b.      This playing time requirement may be altered if the athlete misses events, displays poor sportsmanship, or demonstrates poor teamwork.

7.      There shall be no use of profanity or physical/verbal abuse.

8.      Understand arm care and other safety concerns as it relates to the game of baseball.

9.      Promote a collaborative coaching staff that works together for the benefit of the athletes and families.

10. Communicate clear expectations and necessary information to all your athletes and families.
